New Zealand Government through the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID)
Commonwealth Scholarship Agency hereby announces to the general public and prospective applicants that the New Zealand Government through the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID), is offering scholarships under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan for Postgraduate study in New Zealand.
The scholarships due to commence in February 2012 are for Ph.D, and Masters studies in the following priority fields:
Leadership and Governance, Economies, Public sector governance and reform, Environmental studies, Education, Health, Agriculture and Fisheries, Bio-Security and Food safety, Infrastructure and Utility, Human Rights and Gender.

- Applicants for Ph.D study must have a minimum standard of upper second class honours;
- Applicants for other qualifications, must have a minimum standard of a Bachelors degree with at least an average of "B" or they should be expected to achieve these results in the coming examinations;
- Be applying to commence a new qualification and not be seeking support for one already commended.
Application files should comprise the following:
- Handwritten application addressed to the Minister of Higher Education with a 1000 frs CFA fiscal stamp;
- 2 copies of the application form from New Zealand;
- A certificate of nationality;
Certified copies of GCE O/L, A/L, Probatoire and Bac, First degree, and Masters (for Ph.D only).
The original application form must be accompanied by:
a) A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate (in English);
b) A certified copy of the personal pages of the applicant’s passport;
c) A certified copy of the academic transcript (in English) of each tertiary qualification the applicant has completed or partially completed, including the grade assessment schedule used at each institution;
d) A certified copy of the completion or graduation certificate (in English) for each tertiary qualification the applicant has completed;
e) The applicants original International English proficiency test result, eg, IELTS or TOEFL. Test results must be no more than 24 months old at the time the applicant would commence study;
f) A copy of any correspondence with the New Zealand education institution relating to the qualification the applicant is applying for (eg, offer of place);
g) A current (dated) curriculum vitae, including a brief history of the applicant’s tertiary education background, publications, job skills and paid and unpaid work experiences;
h) Three references (no more than 24 months old) on official letterhead, supporting the application to study in New Zealand. These must be relevant to the scholarship the applicant is applying for and the proposed study programme. One reference should be from the applicant’s current employer and two references from a former lecturer or academic supervisor (in an area of study relevant to the application).
i) All Masters and Ph.D applicants must answer questions 49, 50 and 51 on the application form;

Application final deadline: 30th of May 2011.
Completed application files should reach these offices on or before the 30th of May 2011.
